Even though embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Without star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another three points in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal direct entry to the last 16, particularly after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Moment
This occasion provided a platform for several Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive match.
The Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season proved no match even for a mostly rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.
Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the official dismissed the appeals.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
