2K Games has appointed Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the development team at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the anticipated third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Leadership Shift Follows Mixed Response
Brinkman assumes the role of studio head at 31st Union following the exit of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's lackluster initial reveal last autumn.
On Wednesday, 2K president David Ismailer informed employees about this organizational change through an internal memo, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had shown the requirement for a clearer direction.
The president stated that the developers is now refining the project with a revised approach, aiming to better meet community desires.
Trend of Key Recruitment
The news mirrors a similar action taken by the publisher in August, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to assist with the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.
Here is the complete message from Ismailer's communication:
Team—
I understand you all just completed your meeting - I trust you’re as thrilled as I am with the good news. Previously I shared you all a message, I expressed the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most dedicated and creative developers we have had the chance to collaborate with - and we’re eager for that partnership to endure.”
Given your hard work and versatility, especially over the past twelve months, you continue to prove that.
The gamer responses from last autumn’s the game demo was informative. It validated the promise of a roguelike shooter but made clear we still had work to do. It uncovered the necessity for a sharper vision.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve come. You took the feedback to heart and reimagined the title with a revitalized vision - one that’s ready to deliver on its promise to our players.
Our confidence in this project strengthens every day. To further the remarkable development you’ve made, I am thrilled to announce the new hire as the incoming Lead of the team. After several months of discussions, Ben comes aboard us on the specified date.
Ben’s leadership and expertise in the PVP shooter genre is considerable, having dedicated the recent years creating and leading some of the most popular titles in gaming, for example Call of Duty: Black Ops, and most recently, Apex Legends.
Let’s together in greeting Ben soon. We are all looking forward to continue witnessing the evolution of the game in the time to come.
David

Title Information and Concept
Project Ethos was announced in last year together with a community playtest. Initially, 31st Union portrayed the game as a "no-cost, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an innovative evolution on the category."
"Create your ideal gameplay session—or face defeat—in this engaging over-the-shoulder adventure! Build your hero in real-time to suit your personal playstyle," the game's pitch states. "Face the competition with fresh skills, challenges, and obstacles that evolve every match. Do you leave securely with your collected items? Or take a risk, gamble everything, and hope your team can earn top ranking? The option is up to you."
Project Ethos has not yet received an official release date or consoles, but fans can anticipate further news as creation continues.
